NMIRA PUBLICATIONS

Crane swallowing fish
NMIRA publishes in a variety of formats to serve its membership. A periodic journal, a newsletter, and a procedures manual inform the organization and its membership. In addition to these print publications, online publications, such as this website (with its associated 'NMIRA Tracks' Blog) and the NMIRA Wikispace, compliment each other in providing members and the public a variety of connections to the NMIRA community of literacy professionals and its network of advocates of the life-long love of reading.
NEW MEXICO JOURNAL OF READING
THE NEW MEXICO JOURNAL OF READING, a literacy magazine, is distributed in three issues throughout the year. NMIRA members receive the Winter, Spring and Fall issues of the Journal as part of their dues for the year. Members are encouraged to contribute articles for publication. Article submission can be credited toward the Zia Award. Local and State councils traditionally set aside finances for publication of the Journal.
'NMIRA TRACKS' BLOG
The 'NMIRA Tracks' BLOG is a new addition to the NMIRA website. This online publication is an open forum for NMIRA members and all literacy advocates.
DIRECTORY AND PROCEDURES MANUAL
A State Directory and Procedures Manual is distributed at Leadership meeting. This document contains local and state council officers, committee chairpersons, by-laws, timelines, local council programs and a procedures manual. Local councils are encouraged to publish a similar document for their members.
NMIRA WIKISPACE
The NMIRA Wiki is the association's newest (online) effort to maximize communication within the association. It can be edited and added to with new information and most important, it is collaborative. While it is separate from the NMIRA home website, it serves as an integral element of the association's communication because it is just such a collaborative space where work on behalf of the association can be done. The NMIRA Wikispace is an online page with it’s own address. It can be worked on from any computer with the internet and can be edited by more than one NMIRA member. The best feature is that NMIRA work can be done safely because the NMIRA Wiki is set on protected, and only members are invited to edit (contribute to) it.
The NMIRA Wikispace can be used in a variety of creative ways: NMIRA members can upload documents, works in progress, photos, videos and much more to the NMIRA Wiki. It is a safe workplace for the many activities of the association.
